FEW WORDS ABOUT THE PLUGIN

At its core, Kraftur is a multiband clipper saturator plugin designed to enhance loudness and add harmonic richness without compromising the dynamics of your audio. Unlike conventional DSP based tools, Kraftur employs innovative algorithms to deliver smooth, distortion free results, even under heavy processing.

What makes Kraftur truly special is its intuitive interface and thoughtful design. From mastering your final mix to injecting warmth into individual elements like vocals or drums, Kraftur adapts effortlessly to your creative needs. It splits your audio into three frequency bands: low, mid, and high, allowing to target specific areas of the spectrum.

The inclusion of a triangular blend pad for dry, single band, and multiband saturation is a stroke of genius, offering unparalleled control over the final sound. This, combined with visual feedback through color coded meters and histograms.

LET’S LOOK AT KRAFTUR MAIN PARAMETERS

  1. Drive: Controls the input level to the saturation engine, letting you dial in anything from subtle harmonic enhancements to intense saturation.

  2. Offset & Knee: Shape the saturation curve for smooth transitions or sharper thresholds.

  3. Band Shifts: Adjust the saturation intensity for each band independently, offering precise control over low, mid, and high frequencies.

  4. Band Transition Frequencies: Customize the crossover points between bands to match the spectral needs of your audio and allow to solo each band.

  5. Blend Pad: A triangular control to balance between dry, single band, and multiband saturation.

  6. Match & Clip: Ensure your output is consistent in loudness.

KRAFTUR UNDER TESTS

I had the pleasure of putting Kraftur through its paces, and here’s how it performed to my ears:

On a Drum Bus: With subtle Drive and targeted low end saturation, Kraftur transformed the kick and toms into a powerhouse, adding depth and punch without muddying the mids. The Band Solo feature was invaluable in fine tuning the crossover frequencies.

For Vocals: A touch of mid band saturation brought out warmth and presence, making the vocals sit beautifully in the mix. By linking the Offset and Knee parameters, I was able to retain natural dynamics while enhancing clarity.

General in the Mix: A little touch of it on each element or if you prefer on the main bus of each element add a nice saturation feeling and attitude to whole mix.

Mastering: Kraftur proved its versatility when applied to the full mix. Using the triangular Blend Pad, I struck a perfect balance between multiband enhancement and overall loudness. The Match feature ensured I could A/B test without being influenced by volume differences.

Overall, Kraftur impressed with its ability to maintain sonic integrity while injecting power and energy.

CONCLUSION

Soundtheory’s Kraftur is more than just a saturation plugin it’s a creative tool that empowers you to shape your sound with ease. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or just starting your audio journey, Kraftur offers a fresh perspective on multi-band saturation/clipping processing.
